Thinking about training for a career in publishing? If you are, and live in the GTA, we highly recommend that you attend the open house for Centennial College’s Book & Magazine Publishing Program.
This Saturday, March 23rd, Centennial College will be hosting a “Connect with Centennial” event at all four of its campuses. The session for prospective Book & Magazine Publishing students will be held at the Centre for Creative Communications, 951 Carlaw Avenue in Toronto.
A full schedule of the day’s events can be found here, but there will be a Program Admission Session for the Book & Magazine Publishing Program at 10:45 am, in Room 245. The Program Admission Session is an opportunity to meet with the program coordinator, Denise Schon, and to learn more about the program itself. Pre-registration is usually required, but WIP has been told that if you show up well in advance, and say that you heard about the PAS from our website, that you will be admitted without registration. Please bring a copy of your current resume, and a portfolio of any writing or design work you’ve done.
Centennial’s Book & Magazine Publishing Program is the oldest, and most innovative, publishing training programs in Canada, and a perfect starting point for young publishing professionals. All of us at Working in Publishing are graduates, and credit the program with providing us with the perfect introduction into the industry, due both to the formal instruction, and informal connections (particularly through the attendant internship) offered. As such, we heartily encourage you to give it a try this Saturday.
